Logo-2016.pngHosting the 2016 Summer Olympics was more than an opportunity for the city of Rio de Janeiro to invest in the city’s sports infrastructure. With a goal of boosting toursim and economic development the city also revitalized the nearby Porto Maravilha port area into a cultural and business hub. Long after the games conclude, the area along with many other locations, will continue to shine bright thanks to Schreder.

A new sustainable tramway was also built to transport people in and out of the port, strongly improving mobility within the city. Schreder was delighted to participate in this innovative project that will provide a lasting legacy for the residents of Rio de Janeiro. We provided sustainable lighting solutions that create safe and welcoming spaces for people to enjoy, bringing the areas to life at night for a long time to come.

Maracana Arena

This iconic landmark for Brazilians regularly hosts national and international matches and events such as the FIFA 2014 World Cup and will host the opening ceremony of the Olympic games.

As the largest stadium in South America, it can seat 78,838 spectators. Schreder supplied cost-effective LED lighting solutions to enhance the landscape around the arena and ensure the highest level of security for the many visitors entering and leaving the arena. Schréder also illuminated the façade of the arena to boost the excitement of these festive events.

Olympic Parks

The Akila Olympic is without a doubt, the lighting star of the Olympic Parks. The designer Indio da Costa redesigned our Akila fixture to create an iconic luminaire for this prestigious event. The Akila Olympic benefits from all the photometrical flexibility of the original luminaire to light all the different landscapes in a more sleek design.

More than 1,000 Akila Olympics are installed throughout the city, providing a bright white light that ensures a safe passage for the general public making their way to and from the numerous sporting venues in the city such as Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, Future Arena, Deodoro Stadium and the Rio Olympic Velodrome.

Parque Madureira

This urban oasis was developed in one of the most built-up areas of Rio Janeiro with the clear intention of transforming the landscape and quality of life for the residents. The 3rd largest park in the city, it offers multiple activities including football pitches, ping-pong tables, a skate park, an amphitheatre and food kiosks.

By providing sustainable lighting solutions for all of these different public spaces, Schreder has contributed to helping the city of Rio de Janeiro create safe and welcoming landscapes that improve the quality of life for its residents while reducing energy costs and its environmental footprint.

Schreder provides lighting solutions for safe, comfortable and sustainable environments. Their smart solutions interact with individuals in environments that include: highways, tunnels, residential streets, pedestrian and public areas, sports facilities, public transportation, university campuses and more. WLEC_IN_STOCK.pngThe lighting and electrical industry has recently seen many changes. Between new technology available for lighting and energy controls and new building and installation standards due to Title 24, it can be hard to stay up to speed on products, Title 24 compliance, and product availability.

Western Lighting and Energy Controls has become known as a lighting representative who offers real-world solutions to electrical professionals. Recently, due to overwhelming requests, Western has added a number of select products that are in stock and available for a quick turn around, paying special attention to the Title 24 guidelines. Why stress to find products that follow the rules and regulations of Title 24, when Western can do all the work for you?

About Title 24:
Title 24 energy standards address the energy efficiency of new and altered homes and commercial buildings. These standards are necessary for California's future because energy efficiency reduces energy costs, increases reliability and availability of electricity, improves building occupant comfort, and reduces impacts to the environment.

Outstanding Lighting Solutions: Why Choose CREE?

Posted by Jimm Reifsnyder

Jul 3, 2013 4:30:00 AM

why choose creeThose of us in the lighting industry in Southern California make choices every day. When you design, specify, or install lighting systems for your clients, you make choices about which products will best suit their needs. At Western Energy Control Solutions, we make those same kinds of choices. So why did we jump at the chance to represent CREE® in the SOCAL market?

We actually had a number of reasons for choosing CREE, but we’d like to share three big ones—because we think they represent things your clients will value and appreciate.

Efficiency. Cree LED Lighting products deliver the same amount of light as conventional technologies—but use as little as 10 to 15 percent of the energy.  That can save your clients hundreds of dollars over the life of each light.

Longevity. A typical 65-watt incandescent light lasts for 2,000 hours.  A Cree LR6TM LED downlight has a lifetime of 50,000 hours (running a Cree lamp for six hours a day, it would last nearly 23 years!). That means your clients would have to replace their conventional bulbs 25why choose cree for commercial lightingtimes to match the longevity of the Cree LED. That’s a lot of replacing—not to mention the extra $465 in energy usage (at today’s rates).

Beauty. Energy efficiency and longevity are great, but you know that your clients want lighting that looks great as well. You probably have clients that love the energy savings that CFL lighting offers—but they hate the way they look. Now energy efficiency doesn’t mean they have to sacrifice ambience. Cree lights have a higher color rendering—giving everything they illuminate a more vibrant and lifelike look. Your clients can choose warm lighting, for a traditional, luxurious feeling (great for residential solutions) or cool lighting to create an effective work environment (it’s also great for homes that want a more contemporary look).

Why choose CREE? Your clients will love the way they look, the way they last, and the way they save energy and money.

Drop me a note today and I’ll be happy to help you find the Cree solution that’s right for your clients.
